Our Approach to Health

Health as a personal journey.

If you are here, it is likely because you want to get closer to your idea of health. A dictionary might alternatively define health as “the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit” or as, “freedom from physical disease or pain”. While these definitions might give you a general sense of the word, I think they ignore the individual experience of this state. In truth, the word means different things to different people, and what it means to each of us changes as our bodies change through age, injury, and illness. As a provider helping you navigate the confusing modern mess of diagnosis, disease, medications, expert recommendations, friendly advice, marketing claims, biohacks, podcasts, YouTube videos, Google searches, social media trends, here-say, and wives-tales, my commitment is to get you closer to your personal definition of the word… not mine, not the expert’s, not the textbook’s… yours.

As with any journey, there are multiple paths that can be taken to get to your destination. Your health mountain can be climbed by charging straight up the side or by navigating gradual switchbacks. You may only want general directions, basic survival skills, and intermittent advice or you may want a step-by-step tour. You may desire the latest tech and gadgets or you may be happy with more rudimentary tools. My job as your guide on this journey is to help you understand what is available and what you can expect to get out of the wide array of equipment and supplies available.

Your body and your mind are the most important tools you will ever get to use. How you take care of these tools throughout your life is the most important factor in determining the length of time your will get to enjoy a high level of function out of them.
